PT. Telekomunikasi Selular or Telkomsel is the leading operator of cellular telecommunications services in Indonesia by market share.

Telkomsel is a brand name of a GSM and UMTS Mobile phone network operator which is operating in Indonesia. It was found in 1995, and is a subsidiary of Telkom Indonesia. At the end of 2010 the company set 94 million subscribers or increased by 15 percent from last year and makes Telkomsel still the biggest network operator in Indonesia by market share.

Telkomsel Operates in Indonesia with GSM 900-1800 MHz, 3G network, and internationally, through 323 international roaming partners in 170 countries (end of September 2008). The company provides its subscribers with the choice between two prepaid cards-simPATI and Kartu As, or the post-paid kartuHALO service, as well as a variety of value-added services and programs.

History of Telkomsel in Indonesia

The company was incorporated in 1995 and is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. PT Telekomunikasi Selular is a subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk. Telkomsel's operations in Indonesia have grown substantially since the commercial launch of its post-paid services on May 26, 1995. In November 1997, Telkomsel became the first cellular telecommunications operator in Asia to introduce rechargeable GSM pre-paid services. In September 2006, Telkomsel became the first operator in Indonesia to launch 3G services.

Network coverage

Telkomsel currently has the best network coverage in Indonesia, providing network coverage reaching over 95% of Indonesia's population and is the only operator in Indonesia that covers all of the country's provinces and regencies, and all counties in Sumatra, Java, and Bali/Nusra. The company offers GSM Dual Band (900 & 1800), GPRS, Wi-Fi, EDGE, and 3G Technology.

Awards

In 2011, Telkomsel was the solely GSM operator who got the best prepaid card - simPati, the best post paid card - HALO and the best mobile internet service provider - Telkomsel Flash. It was the 12th in a row for Telkomsel to get the awards, so Telkomsel also got The Best Indonesian Consumer Award 2011. 4 parameters for value the awards, i.e. Quality Satisfaction Service (QSS), Value Satisfaction Service (VSS), Perception Branding (PB), and Expectation Service (ES).

• Skill of application development and SQL programming

IP Engineer
